The Collective At Norman

Looking for shady/lying management, bug infested houses, ignored maintenance requests, broken public facilities and mystery charges? The collective at Norman is the place for you. Told them I needed a 6 month lease and they said that would not be a problem and provided me a lease to sign. Should’ve read the terms more closely because they slipped me a year-long lease after many talks with management about how it needed to be 6 months and when I thanked them for providing the short-term lease they said of course and waited until I attempted to move out in December to inform me they pulled one over on me. When I moved into the apartment, there were at least 50 crickets in my room and the kitchen. I put in several maintenance requests that were later marked as complete even though I was home all day on the days they said they came, and they never did. Public facilities are constantly trashed and rarely cleaned. Provided me with a gate code that didn’t work and did nothing to remedy the situation when I went into the office to tell them. If you have the option to stay anywhere else in Norman, it would be worthwhile to do so.

I love living at the collective!! I have lived there for 2 years and enjoyed every second of it. The management and leasing staff are always so helpful and welcoming. Paige has especially gone above and beyond with making my stay at the the collective feel like home. I also have been loving the events and giveaways they have put on recently!

Management was decent when it was Aspen Heights last year but the management this past academic year has been beyond atrocious. When we first moved in our AC was broken (in early August when it was excessively hot) and it took weeks to get someone to attempt to fix it. The justification behind this was “there was only one maintenance person.” The pool also stopped working and the water turned green and I still don’t think that was ever fixed. More recently extremely bright lights were added onto almost every house so if you have a room with a window facing the street good luck getting a good night sleep because those lights are on ALL NIGHT.

DO NOT RENT HERE!!. If I could give 0 stars I would I’m trying to save you. Info on how they treat tenants maintenance chooses wether or not to fix what they were in the apartment for. Without 24 hour notice they will break and enter after knocking and waiting less than 2 seconds(without announcing its maintenance) before unlocking it themselves for the record the bedrooms are upstairs I have been walked in on naked twice my apartment wasn’t cleaned prior to me moving in filled my vacuum 4 times vacuuming upstairs. I found old dirty underwear in the apartment which is just a health hazard they refused to do a walk through even upon request the office will try to nullify your rights by telling you their maintenance is allowed to just walk in I had a broken dishwasher that was supposed to be replaced they came looked at it and replaced it a month later without securing it to the counter so it tips when I pull out the top rack which can’t hold the proper amount of weight as I have to hold it up by the end while I load the top rack .there was a broken window that they refused to replace for months one of only I think 4 things they fixed and tthe front door has been kicked in they gave me a specific date they would be fixing the front door only to lie and try to kick us out so someone else has to deal with it all they did to fix the fact that the door isn’t sealed is put another weatherstrip on the door it did nothing and I still have to put my body weight into it just to lock it they replaced the front door handle with a bathroom door handle that can be unlocked from the outside. multiple lightbulbs exploded one of which was directly above my head they had to rewire the light switches in the front as it was done incorrectly when the building was built there have been at least 3 black widows in my apartment 1 other unidentifiable spider at least 1 cricket gets in through the gap between the door and the wall every couple of days I found spider eggs all under the furniture speaking of which they stapled the bed frame that’s provided back together as it was obviously broken by the last people here and they didn’t want to replace it and your expected to pay for the run down broken furniture through the lease. The tenant next door had to inform me that the apartment door had been open and swinging for 6 months prior to me moving in sound ordinance is irrelevant here students being loud after hours not once have office managers or anything come to look at the apartment. it states in the lease that you can’t have window ac units yet there are at least 5 in the complex after being called out on their nonsense decided to immediately retaliate by illegally evicting me. DO NOT RENT HERE unless you like the lease they wrote being broken in countless oblivious ways. The experience will only damage your mental and physical well being.
